TOURS AND TREKKING

Staying in Cortona you can visit the turistical attractions of the city, by using the turistic path provided by Cortonaweb.

If you instead want to trek outside the city, there are numerous trekking paths, going through areas of great naturalistic and hystorical value, like Canale Maestro della Chiana, the old dukies farmhouses, and the many little villages around the valley.

The paths can be easily crossed on foot or by bike. The tourist can walk in a world of nature, art and Hystory, discovering the remains of ancient Etruscan roads, Roman villas and stoneworks, beautiful cristian churches rediscovered after the reclamation of Valdichiana.

Casa Monaldi allows you to get in touch with the old Tuscan culinary traditions. On request, we can prepare marvelous dinners or organize Cooking classes, to prepare, from teory to practice, typical Tuscan dishes and let you taste the authentic Tuscan kitchen.

CORTONA

Casa Monaldi is very near the Etruscan city of Cortona, Charming and important art center, with a lot of museum and hystorical buildings to see: Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca (one of the most famous museum of Etruscan Art), Museo Diocesano (with Beato Angelico's Annunciazione), the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie (beautiful example of renaissance architecture), Convento delle Celle and many other charming places.

With a medieval old town, Cortona is surrounded by the ancient Etruscan walls, and from the terraces you can see Valdichiana and up to Lake Trasimeno. The city is bustling with events and manifestations, rich of restaurants and small shops. Cortona was the main stage for the best seller book "Sotto il sole di Toscana" from author Frances Mayes, who spends in Cortona most of her time.
